Police have issued an appeal after three masked men stormed a Post Office with hammers in a 'carefully planned' robbery. The thugs, who were all wearing balaclavas, smashed their way into the shop on Lapwing Lane in Didsbury on Monday evening.

They stole the safe which contained a quantity of cash, GMP said. No-one was injured in the incident, but a staff member was left 'incredibly shaken'. The men fled the scene in a white van which has since been found. Police believe there may have been a dark vehicle driving in tandem with the van.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing. Officers are now appealing for anyone who has any information about the robbery - which happened just before 6.20pm - to come forward.
