Married at First Sight New Zealand star Andrew Jury has died aged 33. It has been reported he was in jail at Mt Eden Corrections Facility on remand at the time of his death and hours from a court hearing related to charges including “assault with intent to injure, willful damage and possession of an offensive weapon.” His father, Ron Jury, told the New Zealand Herald that he was “struggling” in jail after being arrested on April 2 and had displayed “red flag” that authorities should have picked up.

The Jury family is “bewildered” and “deeply saddened” by his passing, added Ron Jury. Jury’s passing was first revealed by some of his former castmates, including Brett and Angel Renall, who wrote a joint statement confirming his death.

He had appeared with them on the Warner Bros Discovery New Zealand show in 2017. “It’s with the heaviest hearts we’ve come together to acknowledge the passing of Andrew Jury,” read the statement, which was reported by the New Zealand Herald. “We had the absolute pleasure of filming and participating in a show which leaves us intricately linked for a lifetime.” They said that despite experiencing “struggles” Jury was always friendly and the life of the party during our shared experience, and he really valued his time on the show.
