Both Aldi and Lidl have announced ambitious plans to open loads more stores across the UK over the next two years - and they hope Greater Manchester will be home to dozens of them.
Aldi is investing £1.3 billion by 2023 to further grow its retail estate with 100 new sites, with the aim of opening an average of one new store a week.
The budget supermarket, which already has more than 920 UK stores, is looking at 19 areas in our region, from Orrell in Wigan to Cheadle Hulme in Stockport.
