Bolton’s council elections are less than a month away with a third of seats up for grabs in the poll. Residents are voting in each of the borough’s 20 wards on polling day on Thursday, May 5 with 20 of the authority’s 60 members set to be elected.
A total of 98 candidates in total are standing for councillor positions in each of the wards which make up the town. The elections will take place on Thursday, May 5, from 7am until 10pm along with similar votes across the country.
Candidates from the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats and Reform/Bolton for Change will contest every ward. The Green Party are fielding several candidates and are joined by a number of independents and hyperlocal parties including Farnworth and Kearsley First, Horwich and Blackrod First, Little Lever and Darcy Lever First, One Kearsley and Westhoughton First. Residents have until midnight on Thursday, April 14 to make sure they are on the electoral register and therefore entitled to vote.
