Alex Rae insists Rangers fans will demand more of Michael Beale and his players on home soil after their grind over the finishing line against Motherwell.Rabbi Matondo's deflected effort off Cyriel Dessers was enough to move past the Steelmen by a 1-0 margin but it was a far from convincing performance that boss Beale blasted post-match.
Stuart Kettlewell's visitors have been plagued by injuries up front and that seemed to play a part as they failed to score for their second straight week but they did have a Blair Spittal effort hooked off the line, and Oli Shaw forced a decent save out of Jack Butland.Speaking on Rangers TV, Rae was pleased with the one moment of quality from the home side, but very little else in what proved to be a sight sore eyes could have done without.
Rae said: "It was well constructed (the goal) and you talk about playing through the lines. Lovely ball by Scott Wright first time and Matondo pulls the trigger.
This was the deciding factor in the game and it was needed as that was a tough watch. "I think Michael Beale post-match will be saying there were far too many opportunities passed up for his liking.
