An Aldi customer was left 'horrified' after allegedly finding two shards of broken glass or plastic in a quiche. James Smith said the unknown material 'crunched like a bone' when he took a bite of the cheese and onion tart.

The fragment was roughly three centimetres long, with the retired paramedic discovering an even longer piece after digging around in the quiche.

Speaking to Stoke-on-Trent Live, the Wolstanton resident said: “When I crunched on it, it felt like a bone. "Immediately, I was stunned and horrified.

I showed it to my wife and she couldn’t believe it. When I poked around in the food I was dumbfounded."Aldi told him that as he’d also had cauliflower cheese and baked beans on his plate it would be “difficult to investigate” because the products came from different suppliers.
