Albion Rovers appoint interim chairman

Albion Rovers have announced a new interim chairman after Ian Benton stepped down from the top role last month.Robert Cameron will take the reins of the Cliftonhill club on a temporary basis, with his position running until the club's next Annual General Meeting, which is likely to be in the spring.He replaces Mr Benton, who resigned "with a heavy heart" in December due to personal reasons.Announcing Robert's appointment, which was ratified at a club meeting last week, a statement from Rovers read: "Albion Rovers FC are pleased to confirm that Robert (Bobby) Cameron has taken on the role of interim chair with immediate effect."Bobby is a well-known face around Cliftonhill and he often goes above and beyond in his role as director, or as club groundsman, where he has transformed our playing surface since taking on the role."We’re sure everyone associated with the club will wish Bobby well as he takes on this new role, which will run up until this year’s Annual General Meeting."The Rovers board now comprises: Robert Cameron (interim chair), Jordan Campbell, Hugh Morrison and Margaret Rizza.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
