ED Stafford left viewers in an uproar over the "awful and cruel" treatment of the horses on 60 Days with the Gypsies. The former British Army captain showed Channel 4 fans the difficulties of gypsies traveling to Cumbria with their horses and carts.
The episode kicked off with Ed getting advice from fellow traveller John Doe, who told him that he'd been travelling for a week with his horse.
John said that he travels every year to the Appleby Horse Fair to keep the traveller community, "alive". Despite praising John's determination, Ed was unsure how "compatible" this mode of transport was with the modern world.
During the Fair, Ed was keen to purchase a horse for his daughter and later spotted one that he thought was on sale at a pub.
