'You have literally just helped us to survive' - Manchester restaurant sends heartfelt handwritten thank you letters to takeaway customers

With hospitality operators warned they'll be the last to leave lockdown, restaurants are relying on takeaway trade more than ever.

And the owners of one Manchester restaurant are going the extra mile to make sure their customers know how much they value them - by sending out heartfelt hand-written letters with every delivery.

Sweet Mandarin opened in the Northern Quarter in 2004 and won the title of the nation's best local Chinese restaurant on Gordon Ramsay’s F Word.

But now, like hospitality businesses across the country, it's fighting to stay afloat. "If I'm honest, this time is critical for us so you have literally just helped us to survive," co-founder Helen Tse wrote to one customer named Alice.
