A woman has praised the 'genuine kindness' of young man who approached her in the street. Kate Drew was on her way to a friend's house on Monday evening to watch ITV show Anne, after she was became upset watching the Sunday night episode on her own.

However, as she headed down Seabank Road in Wirral, the 66-year-old fell and cut her hand open. Kate, from Wallasey, told the Liverpool Echo : “In truth, I was really upset watching Anne on TV on Sunday that I didn't want to watch it on my own Monday, so I was walking to a friend's at about 8.30pm. “While I was walking along the street it was really dark and I fell onto the pavement - hurting myself quite a lot.“Next thing, a car stopped next to me and a young man got out and literally picked me up off the floor."The fall caused Kate to cut her hand which was “bleeding a lot” as well cuts to her knees, but she was most upset that she had damaged a Christmas present bought for her.The Wirral woman added: “I was given a pair of Levi's jeans as a present for Christmas and I got a hole in them which I was most upset about."My bag spilled out everywhere but the man went and got my phone which had slid all the way along and I hadn't even noticed.."He picked it up and put it in my bag for me and helped get me up."Kate said the 'kind boy' insisted on giving her a lift to her friends despite her refusal and stayed with her until he was sure she was okay.Kate said: “He wanted to take me, insisted on giving me a lift!
