Joseph Winter: Celebs Rumors

When most people think of Emmerdale’s much loved matriarch Faith Dingle, the first name that springs to mind is Sally Dexter, who captured the hearts of the nation with her heartbreaking portrayal of the character’s battle and subsequent death - as a result of breast cancer. But long before Sally took the reins, the character was portrayed by another familiar face, Gillian Jephcott, who famously played the role from 2000 to 2004.

Coronation Street fans have been left in shock after a devastating twist for Gemma Winter on Friday night. Recently, Gemma had been worried about her stepson Joseph's health and took him to the hospital multiple times, only to be told by doctors that he was fine.This week, things took a scary turn when Gemma made Joseph drink lavender tea in the hope it would make him feel better after he complained of feeling ill.

Found footage filmmaking is now one of the pillars of the horror genre. This Halloween season, Joseph and Vanessa Winter are a filmmaking duo with not one, but two brand-new found footage horror films arriving on screens, with their directorial debut, “Deadstream,” and a segment in the recent anthology, “V/H/S/99.” And in this episode of The Playlist Podcast, I got the chance to speak with the directors about the literal blood, sweat, and tears that went into bringing these projects to life.

Back in 2012, “V/H/S” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to give “Paranormal Activity” and the rest of the found footage horror sub-genre a run for its money. These days, prospective victims in such movies are likely to make us feel they deserve their fate by being professional self-promoters with such widely despised job titles as “influencer,” “YouTube personality” or “reality TV star.” Sharp objects may also be involved, but in horror cinema, few things prove more reliably fatal than narcissism.So we know the goose of bearded thirtysomething Shawn Ruddy (Joseph Winter) is cooked right away in “Deadstream,” because he’s introduced in a bombastic montage of clips from the streaming series of which he’s the star and entire crew.

EXCLUSIVE: Genre streaming site Shudder has acquired rights to Deadstream, the horror comedy from husband-and-wife directing duo Vanessa and Joseph Winter. The deal, which covers North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, comes as the pic gears up for its world premiere Friday at SXSW, where it is playing in the Midnighters section.

CORONATION Street fans have gone wild after recognising Joseph's granny Linda as an actress from another soap. The character landed on the cobbles after flying in from Portugal during a tense showdown dubbed 'Granny Wars'. Posh Linda Hancock, played by Jacqueline Leonard, was seen stepping on the toes of much-loved long-standing character Bernie Winter.

EXCLUSIVE: UK sales and distribution outfit Blue Finch Films has boarded worldwide rights to horror-comedy Deadstream, which will open the midnight section at SXSW this year.
