Weather warning for ice issued across Scotland as temperatures set to plummet to -5C and snow expected

weather warning has been issued for Scotland as temperatures continue to drop across the country. The warning for ice has been issued for large parts of south east and central Scotland from 4pm today to 11am on Wednesday.

Forecasters have urged Scots to take care when heading outside as sheets of black ice are expected to cover a number of untreated roads and pavements.

Wintry showers are also forecast for higher ground but could travel down to lower levels of the country. Up to 5cm of snow could potentially fall in some areas of the country.
