Her logic was that you end up with all the usual drudgery of day-to-day life but with additional faff and stress brought about by being in unfamiliar surroundings.

So everyone is at close quarters, ratty and a bit discombobulated and you end up coming home exhausted, poor and having just spent a week doing everything you would have done at home but with none of the usual things that make life easier for parents (washing machine, well-stocked snack cupboards) or children (all those special toys, reliable internet).
