It's good news for crisp lovers as Walkers have made a return to supermarkets. Fans of the savoury snack were up in arms before Christmas when supply chain issues meant shelves were stripped bare.
Some argued it was the most significant crisis of the year, saying they could tolerate no toilet roll and no petrol, but 'a shortage of Walkers crisps is just too much'.
And other cheeky fans even started flogging packs on eBay for a £7 a pop. Read more: We bought the same five cereals from the four biggest supermarkets and there was a 25% difference in price The company said the shortage was due to an IT upgrade which had 'disrupted the supply' and that although Walkers sites were still making crisps and snacks, it was 'at a reduced scale'.
Thankfully the 'crisis' appears to be over and on our visit to the four main supermarkets - Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Asda - all had shelves packed with crisps of all flavours, including cheese and onion, which I'm told has been Walkers' top flavour since records began.
