Vernon Kay has opened up on his I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! experience, disagreeing with a former campmate who said bosses are "controlling." Olympic diver Matty Lee, who took part in the 2021 series of the show, said he didn’t realise how “controlled” being on the show would be. "One thing that shocked me was how controlled it is, more than I thought it would be.

It is a TV show at the end of the day, if we’re all sat there doing nothing they would say over the tannoy, 'Well do something!'”, he told the Daily Star.

He further noted how the campmates were "treated like crap." Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter.

"It wasn't controlled at all – you can do what you want," the 47 year old told us, adding: "This year was a bit difficult because it had to stop due to the storm and they were in two separate groups but as far as I saw it wasn't over controlled whatsoever." Vernon placed third in the show after reaching the final, with Giovanna Fletcher going on to win.The star, who recently shared if he'd return to Family Fortunes, admitted they have a WhatsApp group and still chat in it over a year since the show ended.
