Vandals cut brakes on 10 cars in Glasgow as police launch probe

Police are hunting vandals who cut the brakes on 10 cars in Glasgow's southside. The vehicles, including mobility cars and work vans, had their anti-lock braking systems tampered with in Langside Avenue and West Avenue, Viewpark, between August and October this year.

Police said they are attempting to establish why someone would commit these 'reckless' acts and are appealing to anyone who has been affected to come forward.

Constable Neill Campbell, Community Policing Team, Bellshill, said: “We are urging people to contact police if their vehicle has been tampered with.

Our understanding is that if the anti-lock braking system is not working, a light will appear on the dashboard alerting you to the fact. “Again, we have been advised that the vehicle’s brakes will still work, although with a reduced capacity.
