Two people were arrested by armed police during an incident on a south Manchester housing estate. The arrests were captured on film by one onlooker, while another described the incident as like a scene from the BBC police series Line of Duty.

Video footage shows two armed officers stopping a car on Maitland Avenue, in Chorlton. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that firearms officers assisted in the arrest of two people on suspicion of firearms offences at around 4pm on Wednesday afternoon (May 5).

There was a large police presence on the road for around two hours after the incident. Police blocked off part of Maitland Avenue at the junction with Darley Avenue.
