Airline TUI has issued a message to anyone with an upcoming holiday booking amid recent fight delays. The aviation industry continues to struggle with flight cancellations as the industry recovers from the coronavirus pandemic, with nearly 290,000 seats being cut from bank holiday flight schedules.
Data company Cirium said around 900 flights due to depart from UK airports between Friday and Tuesday were scrapped from July.
The majority of cancellations are due to staff shortages across the aviation industry. Some airports have responded by capping the number of passengers able to fly this summer leading to a spike in air fares, Liverpool Echo reports. The airline has also requested that holidaymakers with an upcoming booking do not arrive to the airport too early. In a statement TUI said: "We would like to apologise to some of our customers who have experienced flight delays recently.
