Boris Johnson won a narrow victory in Parliament this week as MPs voted to reduce the UK's overseas aid spending from 0.7pc to 0.5pc of national income, breaking his own party's manifesto pledge.
Christian Wakeford, the Conservative representative for Bury South, had previously criticised the proposals, but backed the motion which will see a cut of around £4 billion in aid to the world's poorest.
