Thousands raised as community gets behind Wishaw family whose home was destroyed in horror blaze

A fundraiser that was set up for an "amazing" Wishaw family who lost everything in a horror house fire earlier this weekend has already received more than £10,000 in donations.

Five people were rushed to University Hospital Wishaw following the blaze on Stewarton Street, around 7.30pm on Friday.It is understood all those involved were members of the same family.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Juliette Mullen started the Go Fund Me yesterday and the fundraising target was quadrupled in just a few hours.So far, more than £10,000 has been raised to support the family as donations continue to pile in.A statement on the page said: "The family haven't asked for this but on Friday, just after 7.30pm, their family home in Stewarton Street, Wishaw at Dimsdale was destroyed in a house fire."Joanne is an amazing mum of 6, daughter, sister, school teacher, friend, colleague and family member."This family do so much for charity, for community and for others, I believe it's important to give back in their time of need."Obviously all the family are helping as best they can.
