FILMING for Netflix series The Crown will pause following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty, who died "peacefully" on Thursday at age 96, was the central figure of the Emmy-winning television series.
Writer of the drama, Peter Morgan, who also penned 2006 film The Queen, has described it as "a love letter to her" after news of the monarch's death broke.
Deadline reports that he wrote in an email: "The Crown is a love letter to her and I’ve nothing to add for now, just silence and respect. "I expect we will stop filming out of respect too." Plans had long been put in place by Netflix should the Queen die during production of the popular drama.
