A Scot accused of planning a terrorist act was “steeped in extreme right-wing ideology” and intended to carry out a mosque arson attack, a trial heard.
Sam Imrie, 24, is accused of preparing to commit acts of terrorism and suggesting online that he planned to attack the Fife Islamic Centre in Glenrothes.
In her closing speech after the defence case ended on Tuesday, advocate depute Lisa Gillespie QC said the jury wasn’t dealing with “thought crimes”.
She told the High Court in Edinburgh if you keep “disgusting thoughts” to yourself then the law will leave you alone. But the “law does step in”, she added, where “your expression of beliefs could potentially harm other people”.She added: “I say Sam Imrie over-stepped that mark by miles.”Ms
