South Lanarkshire is accepting more waste at recycling centres from July 1

Join thousands of others who have signed up for the Daily Record newsletter.South Lanarkshire recycling centres are now accepting bulkier items such as black bag waste, wood and laminate, as well as electrical appliances.As of Wednesday, July 1, furniture waste can be accepted, along with compostable garden waste, flat packed cardboard, mattresses and carpet and underlay.Home improvement building waste – such as brick, rubble, plaster board, ceramic tiles and sanitary ware – are still not permitted at the centres.Cardboard must still be flattened - no boxes can be dumped otherwise, in case they contain contaminants.

Please remove polystyrene and polythene packaging before disposing of cardboard.Vans are now allowed at the sites on Tuesdays.
