Shut pub turns into food and support project for locals - but it needs help

A pub that has been closed since lockdown measures were put in place has been providing meals and support for local residents.

The Old Abbey Taphouse in Hulme has been the central hub for Taphouse TV Dinners, a community project serving pay-as-you-feel-meals to people with an M15 postcode or nearby.

The scheme has seen more than 100 meals distributed since April 21st. The project also sends out art packs so that those self-isolating can stay active and creative during lockdown, while additionally providing support through welfare calls and collecting prescriptions or groceries. “It’s given us an opportunity to meet new neighbours who otherwise might not have known about the community pub and stay connected with the people who do,” Rachele
