Mediterranean plume ’ descends on the country. The Met Office is anticipating temperatures across much of the country to peak into the mid-20s on Wednesday afternoon.
Sunbathers will be treated to the ideal dry and sunny conditions, with the south west of the country seeing the best of the late summer weather.
Forecasters anticipate the thermostat to climb to a high of 26C in Dumfries at around 4pm on Wednesday. The Mirror reports that the dramatic change to the conditions is thanks to a so-called ‘Mediterranean plume’ hitting the UK.
Meteorologist Alex Deakin said: “A shift in high pressure does mean that many of us will see sunnier skies and it will also be turning warmer, especially as we head into next week.“Higher temperatures are on.
