Scots NHS scientist conned John Lewis out £1600 in ‘sophisticated’ price tag swap scam at Glasgow store

NHS scientist has been suspended after she carried out a 'sophisticated' scam to defraud a branch of John Lewis of more than £1,600. 'Dishonest' Maureen Bennie swapped the price tags of expensive products for cheaper ones before she bought them.

The 56-year-old also returned a watch bought in an online sale in the box of a more expensive one and was refunded double what she paid.

A disciplinary panel heard Ms Bennie sneakily swapped the labels of clothes and an 'artwork' at the Glasgow store for those of less expensive items during her three month spree in the lead up to Christmas.
