Scotland hit by third earthquake just hours after tremors wake residents

A third earthquake hit Scotland today in a series of rumbles which took place just hours apart. The 0.9 magnitude tremor was recorded at Roybridge in the Highlands at 4.09am this morning around an hour and a half after a 1.6 shake hit at the same village.

Both occurred at a depth of 7km, according to the British Geological Survey.The first Roybridge quake came almost an hour after people in the west of Scotland were shaken and stirred by an earthquake measuring 3.3.

Its epicentre was about 11 miles (18km) north west of Lochgilphead in Argyll and Bute, and 88 miles (142km) north west of Glasgow.
