Ryanair staff refused to let a teenager board a flight from Glasgow Prestwick amid claims his passport had expired - despite it being in-date for another five months.

Zak Schoneville, from Motherwell, Lanarkshire, had been due to fly out with family to the sunshine isle of Tenerife on Monday, May 2.

The 15-year-old had arrived at the airport with parents Lisa and Neil and younger sister, Lily, 13, at 4am ahead of the 6.10am take-off.

But, having arrived at the gate, Ryanair told the family that the teen was unable to board the plane. Staff claimed that Zak's passport had expired - even though it still has five months to run, The Mirror reports.
