Reese Witherspoon Reveals the New Movie That Has Provided 'A Lot of Inspiration' for 'Legally Blonde 3'

In a new interview, the 46-year-old actress shared an update on the upcoming movie that has been in the works for years, while also revealing which new movie has provided “a lot of inspiration” for it. Click inside to read more… “I’m still hoping that Legally Blonde 3 is gonna come together in the right way,” Reese shared with USA Today. “It’s just like Top Gun: They waited a long time to make another version of that movie, and I loved the nostalgia piece they incorporated in it.” The new Top Gun: Maverick just came out in theater back in May, 36 years after the first film was released in 1986. “So definitely that gave us a lot of inspiration about what we would want to do with Elle Woods and make sure that we had all those same touchstones that mattered to people [back] then,” Reese continued. “I feel like these characters are my friends, so I safeguard them.
I would never make the subpar, mediocre version of their story.” The first Legally Blonde was released in 2001 and the sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, was released two years later.
In 2020, it was confirmed that a Legally Blonde 3 was in officially the works and that Mindy Kaling was co-writing the script.
