Ramadan Diaries: 'There are times of the month when there's good reason not to fast'

Zesha Saleem is a freelance journalist, Muslim and medical student. She's been writing a diary for us this month to show how she observes the festival.

In her third column for OK!, she tells us about her week... "There are certain occasions where Muslims don’t have to fast during the month of Ramadan.

For example, they could have a medical condition which prevents them from fasting, being too old (or too young), travelling long distances or being on their period.

If possible, you’re meant to make up your missed fasts later on during the year. Some people might find that too difficult, so they are allowed to give a certain amount of money to feed a poor family for every fast they miss.
