Radical cafe proposal for Kilmarnock park as 124 year old building could be brought back to life

Kilmarnock's oldest buildings could be transformed into a cafe.The derelict Old Man's Cabin in the Howard Park is the subject of ambitious plans to breathe life into the forgotten building.Kilmarnock Railway Station Heritage Trust want to take ownership of the iconic structure in the heart of the popular park with a cafe, meeting space and yoga sessions all on the menu.Counselling could also take place for people who have been struggling with mental health issues.Radical plans would see the front of the 1897 building turned into a social enterprise cafe with the aim of providing "volunteering/employment" opportunities for the community.The makeover would also include the redevelopment of the rear of the building to form a meeting space.
