Police issue appeal after cyclist killed in tragedy

called to Huddersfield Road, in Lees, following a collision involving a cyclist and a silver Ford Transit Panel Van on Thursday afternoon (July 7).

Officers say it is believed the cyclist was turning right into Stamford Road when the collision occurred, at around 5.15pm.The cyclist, a man in his 60s, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.He passed away a short time later despite the best efforts of medical staff, Greater Manchester Police said.A 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.He remains in police custody and enquiries are ongoing.PC Joanne Worsley, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, is now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come.
