Police officers working on a investigation car thefts worth up to £500,000 have carried out a series of warrants at units in Farnworth, Halliwell and Westhoughton since March of last year.

Today, four men, aged 58, 29, 25 and 22, and one 24-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods and money laundering.

It follows a raid in Farnworth this morning, part of Operation Amazonite - an investigation into vehicle theft and suspected 'chop shops' in the area.
