Shannon spent six seasons as a repertory player on the NBC sketch show, during which she received an Emmy nomination for outstanding individual performance in a variety program. Most recently, the actor starred in director Zach Braff’s “A Good Person,” which released in theaters Mar. 24. She will also appear in Season 3 of “The Other Two,” which premieres May 4 on HBO Max. Shannon is best known among “Saturday Night Live” enthusiasts for playing a recurring character named Mary Katherine Gallagher, a Catholic school girl with bizarre habits — most notably, sticking her hands under her armpits and smelling them. In 1999, Shannon starred as the character in a feature film with fellow “SNL” co-star Will Ferrell.

The late-aughts icons kicked off a Broadway mini-residency Tuesday night at the Marquis Theatre, as the trio gears up for the release of their sixth studio LP, simply titled “The Album,” on May 12.So what’s the secret to their longevity?“Writing things that we’d want to play in 20 years,” Nick said in front of a largely female — and loudly squealing — audience that significantly lowered the median age on Broadway on the first of five nights.“We never thought we would get here.

Yet the venue’s infrastructure will be put to the test during the Jonas Brothers’ five-night residency from March 14-18. The residency continues through Saturday with “A Little Bit Longer” (2008), “Lines, Vines, and Trying Times” (2009) and “Happiness Begins (2019)” before culminating with the first live performance of the band’s newest album, “The Album,” which dropped May 12.
