Pet Shop Boys speak out on Drake’s unauthorised sample

Pet Shop Boys have spoken out about Drake’s unauthorised sample of one of their tracks in a new interview. The comments come after the band claimed last October that the rapper used a sample of their hit ‘West End Girls’ without their knowledge or permission. The alleged infringement was included in Drake’s latest album ‘For All The Dogs’, on a track called ‘All The Parties’ in which the Canadian artist sings: “East End boy and West End girls.” The lyrics and melody mirrored the Pet Shop Boys’ own song, in which they sing: “In a West End town, a dead end world/ The East End boys and West End girls.”Following its release, the London duo took to X/Twitter to write: “Surprising to hear Drake singing the chorus of ‘West End Girls’ in the track ‘All the Parties’ on his new album. No credit given or permission requested.”Now, in a new interview with NME, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe have shed more light on the debate, and said that it has all been resolved. They began by making a nod towards the topic, recalling the differences between modern and ‘80s rap.

Drake taunts Kendrick Lamar again with A.I. 2Pac and Snoop Dogg on ‘Taylor Made Freestyle’
Drake has taunted Kendrick Lamar once again on the new track ‘Taylor Made Freestyle’, making use of AI versions of 2Pac and Snoop Dogg. The song was posted on the rapper’s X account today (April 20), the latest in a string of shots back and forth between the two artists. The first verse on the track has been manipulated to sound like 2Pac, with lines including: “Kendrick, we need ya, the West Coast savior / Engraving your name in some hip-hop history / Fuck this Canadian light-skin, Dot / We need a no-debated West Coast victory, man”.Taylor Made Freestyle pic.twitter.com/OrcdsIb8Wf— Drizzy (@Drake) April 20, 2024That is swiftly followed by the AI Snoop, who also goads Kendrick into defending the West Coast legacy: “I know you never been to jail, or wore jumpsuits and shower shoes / Never shot nobody, never stabbed nobody / Never did nothing violent to no one, it’s the homies that empower you / But, still, you gotta show this fucking owl who’s boss on the West / Now’s a time to really make a power move”.On the final verse, Drake’s true voice comes through: “I guess you need another week to figure out how to improve / What the fuck is taking so long, we waitin’ on you / The rest of y’all are definitely involved, y’all gettin’ it too / Soon as you get the courage to drop, I’m out on the loose“.Drizzy also uses the dominance of Taylor Swift’s new album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ to mock Kendrick: “But now we gotta wait a fucking week ’cause Taylor Swift is your new top / And if you ’bout to drop, she gotta approve”.Drake was continuing to taunt Kendrick yesterday, telling fans that K-Dot “had nothing to drop” in response to Drizzy’s ‘Push Ups’ diss track. The issue began on the 2023 single ‘First Person Shooter’, when

Drake seems to hit back at diss from Kendrick Lamar
Drake has appeared to hit back at Kendrick Lamar, following the latter dissing him on a recent track. The tension between the two arose when Kendrick Lamar took aim at Drake and J Cole on a new track, ‘Like That’, which was shared as part of Future and Metro Boomin’s new collaborative album ‘We Don’t Trust You’.Others to star on the album include The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Playboi Carti and Rick Ross, however, it was Lamar’s appearance that turned heads, seemingly responding to J Cole’s verse on ‘First Person Shooter’ from Drake’s 2023 album ‘For All The Dogs’.“Love when they argue the hardest MC / Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? / We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali,” J Cole rapped on the track, with “K-Dot” referring to Kendrick Lamar (via Independent). However, on ‘Like That’, Lamar seems to dismiss the idea that they’re in the same league, saying: “Motherfuck the big three, n****, it’s just big me/ N****, bum, What? I’m really like that/And your best work is a light pack.”He also went on to liken their rivalry to the ‘80s conflict between Prince and Michael Jackson. This comes as in ‘First Person Shooter’, Drake compared his chart success to that of Michael Jackson, but On ‘Like That’, Lamar points out: “N****, Prince outlived Mike Jack.”Now, while both Drake and J Cole are out co-headlining their ‘It’s All A Blur’ tour, the former seems to have weighed in his opinion on Lamar’s comments.“A lot of people asking me how I’m feeling… the way I’m feeling is the same way I want you to walk out of here feeling tonight about your fucking selves.

Drake celebrates winning Super Bowl bet on Kansas City Chiefs: “I won a million dollars”
Drake won big on last night’s Super Bowl, claiming a million dollar prize after placing a bet on the Kansas City Chiefs to win.Super Bowl LVIII went down last night (February 11) at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce helping the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22.Drake was not in attendance, but was nonetheless a highly interested observer, after placing a $1.15 million (£910,000) stake on the Chiefs, which allowed him to double his money.Drake celebrates winning his $1 Million Super Bowl bet pic.twitter.com/M2rhbuCkbu— Daily Loud (@DailyLoud) February 12, 2024Posting on Instagram stories, Drizzy was celebrating, saying, “I won a million dollars”, and “can’t bet against the Swifties”.It appears that for once, the ‘Drake curse’ did not hit – the supposed trend of the rapper being a bad-luck charm for sports teams and stars when he poses with them or places a bet on them to succeed.Manchester City and Barcelona have both been on the wrong end of the Drake curse in recent years, although another million dollar bet, on Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup, also came good for the rapper. In other Drake news, he recently rekindled his ongoing feud with The Recording Academy, slamming them during the Grammys ceremony.Posting to his Instagram Stories, he shared a short snippet of his speech at the 2019 awards – for which he won in the category of Best Rap Song for his track ‘God’s Plan’.In the caption, he wrote: “All you incredible artists remember this show isn’t the facts, it’s just the opinion of a group of people [whose] name are kept a secret (literally you can Google it).“Congrats to anybody winning anything for hip hop but this show doesn’t dictate shit in

He’s bringing sensitive back: Justin Timberlake makes a smooth comeback with new single ‘Selfish’
“Selfish” — which dropped Thursday morning — finds the pop superstar getting in his falsetto feels over a smooth midtempo groove.“So if I get jealous, I can’t help it/I want every bit of you, I guess I’m selfish,” he sweetly croons in the chorus that proves that, even at 42, he still possesses some of that same boy-band charm that made us fall in love with him when he was a curly-haired teen heartthrob.Indeed, after Timberlake reunited with ’N Sync last fall for the “Trolls Band Together” bop “Better Place,” “Selfish” takes him back to the swoon-worthy sincerity of his boy-band days — long before he fell victim to cancel culture for his purported misdeeds with Janet Jackson (after their 2004 Super Bowl halftime performance) and ex Britney Spears. But while the song recaptures a kind of lost innocence, it also has some muted, moody beats — think Drake — and a hint of melancholy from an older soul.“Selfish” — which reteams Timberlake with longtime producer Timbaland, while bringing in new collaborators Louis Bell (Taylor Swift, Post Malone) and Cirkut (Maroon 5, The Weeknd) — is the first single from the singer’s upcoming sixth studio album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” due March 15.Timberlake also dropped the “Selfish” video, and like the song, it’s a more subtle, subdued affair than, say, “Filthy,” from his last LP, 2018’s “Man of the Woods.”It’s just Justin singing and vibing behind the scenes, proudly rocking the grays in his beard now.The clip — directed by Bradley J.
