Partick Thistle fans have been dubbed “world class” for helping the club fill a £150,000 black hole during the coronavirus crisis.

Jags chief executive Gerry Britton praised the club’s diehard core of supporters for digging deep during the shutdown.Britton said the money raised will help the club be in a position to play games behind closed doors if required when football finally gets back on its feet.

Firhill chiefs previously warned the early end to the season would leave them £150,000 out of pocket. That was before the SPFL resolution saw them relegated from the Championship despite having nine games left to play and a game in hand over Queen of the South who were just two points better off.
