New Easter egg hunt launched by funeral director

The great Easter Egg Collection of Renfrewshire is back on after being wiped out for the past two years for obvious reasons.And the man behind the chocolate mountain is hoping all records can now be smashed.Undertaker Steven Cameron counted 2,324 eggs of all sizes at the last collection in 2019.But the 55-year-old said: “I reckon we can do better this time after the two year gap.“We are raring to go and are accepting egg donations now.”Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.

Sign up to our newsletters here.A few have already trickled into the HQ of Steven Cameron Funeral Directors.He is the last single site, independently owned undertaker in Paisley.Steven links up with schools and bowling clubs to help get the numbers of eggs up.But individuals are being encouraged to pop the eggs off at the Caplethill Road base in Glenburn.Steven said: “The first collection was five years ago, so after the gap this is the third I have run.“I have been an undertaker for 31 years with various companies before I started on my own in Renfrew, then moved to Paisley.“I used to help collect eggs when I worked with the big companies.“There are a lot of deprived children out there in Renfrewshire and I just wanted to help.“We have also been giving eggs to the Renfrewshire Foodbank for people that need its help.“It is great being back to a wee bit of normality and we can run it this year.”He gets help from local schools and pupils are encouraged to bring eggs into class.Steven added: “These eggs go all over Renfrewshire as well as Ferguslie, Foxbar and Glenburn.“In the past we have also given a load to Renfrewshire Council to distribute.“It’s a wonderful thing to be involved in and I want to keep it going.“I do a bit of
