A neonatal nurse accused of 'poisoning babies' allegedly attacked twin brothers, a trial has heard. Lucy Letby, 32, is charged with murdering seven babies and faces 15 attempted murder charges involving ten more children.

The offences allegedly occurred whilst she was working as a neonatal nurse at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016.

This afternoon on day three of the trial being heard at Manchester Crown Court, prosecutor Nick Johnson KC said Ms Letby gave Child L an unauthorised dose of insulin and whilst that was underway, administered air into the circulation of his brother, Child M. His glucose levels were low and he was treated with a sugar infusion, and his condition improved. Ms Letby was only supposed to be working day shifts because the consultants at the hospital were concerned about ‘the correlation between her presence and unexplained deaths/life threatening episodes on the night shifts’, the court heard.
