Kilmarnock FC as a training base many years ago, the pitch and sports pavilion on the Moorfield estate has never seen a game of football.Numerous residents have attempted to adopt or lease the ground but ultimately all have been refused.And now the pitch could soon disappear for good under plans by housebuilder Bellway to construct 58 houses.Residents were of the understanding that the pitch, just off Dumfries Drive, was not safe to play on because of a gas main — a claim that was rubbished by Bellway at a public consultation event.The gas main follows a public footpath that borders the pitch with the pitch itself outside of the exclusion zone.Graeme Kerr of Bellway Homes told an online consultation event: "The football playfield is far.
