House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday described President Donald Trump as “morbidly obese” and advised him not to take hydroxychloroquine as a COVID-19 treatment. Speaking to CNN's Anderson Cooper, Pelosi said she would "rather [the president] not be taking something that has not been approved by the scientists” as a treatment for the novel coronavirus.Pelosi added that given the president's “age group” and “weight group,” and more specifically because he was “morbidly obese,”hydroxychloroquine treatment would be particularly dangerous for him.

As the U.S. Congress considers a multibillion-dollar emergency aid package to offset the economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, the Recording Academy is urging members of Congress to consider music gig workers in relief plans.

As the music industry reels from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the Recording Academy today appealed to Congress to “protect our nation’s musicians, performers, songwriters, and studio professionals,” particularly “self-employed gig workers,” who are impacted by the loss of income due to concert cancelations and other hardships.

House speaker Nancy Pelosi addressed the nation Friday to introduce today’s Congressional bill, “The Families First Coronavirus Response Act.” She outlined what the House Democrats and the Senate minority had already proposed, which have not gone through.
