A petition to tackle youth violence backed by a mother whose autistic daughter was beaten unconscious in a Glasgow park will go before Parliament.
Angela Jarvis' 12-year-old daughter, Abbie, was left in hospital for two days after she was allegedly lured to a park in Drumchapel and set upon by another girl as a gang of around 10 other youths filmed the attack on their phones.
In the wake of her daughter's attack, the mum-of-four threw support behind a petition, now known as 'Abbie's petition', urging the Scottish Government to address the disturbing culture of youth violence in Scotland.Angela, from Drumchapel, said she broke down in tears after learning the campaign has been accepted for consideration by the Scottish Parliament. The 43-year-old told the Record: "There were tears coming from my eyes when I got the news.
I hope the committee can look at the petition with their hearts and not just their eyes."Violence is taking place on our streets.
