Muireann O’Connell has smashed her first week presenting on Ireland AM, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing as she had to hit back when one of her outfits was questioned.

On her second day in the new role, which saw her swap places with Karen Koster in part of a big shakeup at Virgin Media, the broadcaster suggested that she’d received some backlash over her decision to wear a stylish leather mini-skirt.

Taking it all in her stride and brushing off some viewers’ unwarranted concerns, Muireann continued to impress with her stylish looks and has now defiantly teased the fashion police.

Muireann wrote on Instagram: ‘Ok, hear me out; imagine I wore this jumper as a dress on @irelandamvmtv to let the anti-leg brigade actually LOSE their minds….
