Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and Education Scotland were both slammed as part of the Liberal Democrat motion.A debate at the Scottish Parliament today saw it pass by 65 votes to 58 after all opposition parties voted in favour.The motion called for change in both bodies, saying there were serious concerns about their performance both before and during the pandemic.It also called for Education Scotland's inspection and policy functions to be divided up and said "neither body is fit for purpose".John Swinney has since defended the organisations, branding the Liberal Democrats' criticism "pathetic" and "shabby".An SNP attempt to amend the motion was also voted down by 64 votes to 61.Earlier, Mr Swinney said the pandemic had presented.
