An MP has called for an 'urgent review' of traffic-calming measures in Stockport after it emerged ambulances are being delayed.

Andrew Gwynne, MP for Denton and Reddish, said he has been aware of concerns that ambulances were getting stuck at roadblocks for 'some time'.

But he said when he raised them with the North West Ambulance Service he was told 'there wasn't an issue.' Residents in Heaton Chapel, one of several suburbs in Greater Manchester where Low-Traffic Neighbourhood measures are being trialled, refused to give up the fight.

One woman told the M.E.N it is believed the road closures have caused at least 13 incidents where ambulances have had to turn around in the area since the trial began in September.
