The statue of slave trader Edward Colston has been fished out of Bristol Harbour early this morning by the council.Shortly after 6am, Bristol City Council shared video footage of a salvage crew retrieving the smeared figure and said that it is being '"taken to a secure location".They added that the statue needed to be removed to operate the working harbour, and that it will later form part of their museums collection.The bronze memorial was torn down from its plinth at the Black Lives Matter demonstration on Sunday.A large group of protesters pulled it down with rope before toppling it into the city's water.The removal came some years after residents had been campaigning to have the 17th century figure removed by the council due to.
