Manchester Council have announced they will review every statue in the city in response to the Black Lives Matter protests. Thousands of people joined demonstrations all over the country this weekend, including in Manchester, London and Bristol.

The protests were part of the Black Lives Matter movement and began in response to the death of George Floyd on May 25. Mr Floyd died in police custody in the US after a white officer held him down by pressing a knee into his neck.

On Sunday, demonstrators in Bristol pulled down the controversial statue of a 17th statue slave trader, Edward Colston, which has been situated in the city centre since 1895.
