Mitch McConnell, the Senate Majority Leader, says that he will hold a vote on President Trump‘s nominee to fill the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg‘s seat on the Supreme Court.
Back in March 2016, McConnell blocked the senate from holding a vote for Merrick Garland, who was nominated to the supreme court by Obama. McConnell said back then that a Supreme Court seat should not be filled in an election year, but now he is only saying it shouldn’t be filled during an election year if the presidency and senate are controlled by different parties.
In a statement he released just minutes after Ginsburg‘s death was announced, McConnell said, “President Trump’s nominee will receive a vote on the floor of the United States Senate.” New York’s democratic
