Microsoft shares letter from when it tried to buy Nintendo

Microsoft has shared part of the letter it sent to Nintendo in 1999 when it wanted to buy the company.This was before the launch of the original Xbox in 2001, and can be found by going to the Xbox museum website and exploring the history of the original Xbox (thanks, Kotaku).As we learned earlier this year, the desired acquisition had embarrassing results, as Xbox founding member Kevin Bachus said: “[Nintendo] just laughed their asses off.

Like, imagine an hour of somebody just laughing at you. That was kind of how that meeting went.”To commemorate this gigantic swing and a miss, Microsoft has shared part of a letter sent by VP of hardware Rick Thompson to Nintendo, and it has some interesting details.

An amendment added to the Florida “Don’t Say Gay Bill” will require schools to out LGBT students to their parents. The amendment to Florida House Bill 1557, filed by the Bill’s co-sponsor Representative Joe Harding (R) last Friday, would require schools to out sexually and gender diverse students to their parents within 6 weeks of discovery. The original bill still required disclosure but had an exemption if the disclosure could lead to “abuse, neglect or abandonment.” This exemption was removed in the current amendment. Florida Agriculture Commissioner and Candidate for Governor, Nikki Fried (D), tweeted, “This backwards cruelty must stop.
