Meghan Markle "surprised" the Queen with a three-word response when the late monarch offered her advice as she joined the Royal Family, a royal author has claimed. The Duchess of Sussex, 41, reportedly sat down with the Queen for a one-to-one chat, where Meghan is believed to have been welcomed into the family with some kind words from the late monarch.
According to royal author Robert Jobson in his new book 'Our King', the Queen said she was "so pleased Harry had at last found love" and that Meghan was "warmly welcomed" to the family. The author says that during this chat, the Queen advised Meghan to turn to Sophie, the then Countess of Wessex, for support – as she had also married into the family.
But, according to Jobson, Meghan replied to the Queen saying "I've got Harry", leaving the late monarch "surprised" at her response. The book also goes into further detail of Kate Middleton's feelings about her public walk at Windsor with Harry and Meghan following the Queen's death last September.
The author claims that Kate found the walk "one of the hardest things she'd ever had to do".The walk happened two days after the Queen's death, with Prince William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan greeting well-wishers and viewing the flowers left outside the gates of Windsor Castle.
