Pensioners Alice and Colin Rigg were in their bungalow in Leigh when two masked men burst in and ransacked the home, swiping a handbag which contained cash and sentimental family photos as well as keys to their Dacia Logan car.
Alice ran out for help and a neighbour dialled 999. But it took the police more than an hour to turn up at their home after a call handler wrongly graded the 999 as a less urgent 'grade one' call. READ MORE:Young man savaged by machete gang in Rochdale The force has apologised.
